Disposal Information


Materials Accepted For Disposal
  • Common Household Garbage

  • Small Volumes (Less Than 2 m2, Standard Pick-Up Truck Box) of Construction / Demolition Waste and Land Clearing Debris


Materials Accepted For Recycling
  • Clean Wood Waste - Untreated, No Paint, No Stain

  • Metal Products Including Propane Tanks

  • Appliances - $16 Fee Is Charged For Appliances Containing Ozone Depleting Substances (Freon)


Materials Not Accepted
  • Hazardous Waste eg: Bleach, Gasoline, Paint Thinner

  • Liquid Waste eg: Sewage

  • Asbestos

  • Used Oil Products and Filters:

    - Recycle at: UAP/NAPA or Burns Lake Auto
    - British Columbia Used Oil Management Assocation Website
  • Tires - Return to Place of Purchase

  • Pesticides and Herbicides - Product Care Depot at Smithers/Telkwa Transfer Station or Prince George

  • Contaminated Soils - Call the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako for more information.

  • Residual Paint Products (Including Aerosal Cans) - Burns Lake Transfer Station will accept Residual Paint Products.

  • Auto Batteries - Burns Lake Transfer Station will accept Auto Batteries.


Facility Location

Take the Francois Lake ferry across the lake to the Southside, follow the main road (Keefe's Landing Road) and continue through Grassy Plains heading towards Takysie Lake.  The transfer station will be on your right hand side.
