Village of Granisle
Incorporated in 1971, Granisle has a total land area of 40.21 square Km (2001 Census). Via Highway 118 the Village is 50 km north of Highway 16 at Topley, between Burns Lake and Houston.
Granisle is a small community of approx. 300 people. The Village of Granisle was brought to life in the late 60's/early 70's as a home for the families of the miners working in the nearby copper mines. At the height of its population, Granisle boasted approx. 3,000 people. A proposed new copper mine, Morrison, located 35 km north of Granisle is expected to renew the area population and increase economic activity once again.
The Village of Granisle is located on shore of beautiful Babine Lake -- the longest natural lake in B.C. The Granisle area has numerous parks, campsites, lodges, eating establishments, RV hook-ups and marinas, and boasts some of the best outdoor recreational opportunities in northern BC.
