The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has finalized an agreement with the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George to provide 9-1-1 call answer and fire dispatch services to residents of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako.

Eileen Benedict, Chair of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako looks forward to the implementation of the 9-1-1 service throughout the region. "We are pleased to have a signed agreement with the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George to provide the 9-1-1 services. By working with our neighboring regional district this project has been made possible, says Ms. Benedict. "The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako's mission is to bring security and peace of mind to individuals and their families by providing the very best emergency telephone communications system to its citizens."

Bernice Magee, Mayor of Burns Lake and Chair of the RDBN's 9-1-1 Committee says, "the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako looks forward to working with the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George. Our vision is to exceed all standards of excellence by providing state of the art 9-1-1 services dedicated to helping people in the region connect in times of emergencies."

Once the RDBN's 9-1-1 system is operational, 9-1-1 calls generated within the RDBN will be answered at the North District RCMP Operational Communications Centre in Prince George. Calls requiring fire/rescue agency response will be dispatched through the Prince George Fire Operations Communications Centre for fire/rescue agencies within the RDBN. All ambulance calls will be forwarded to the BC Ambulance Service Central Dispatch Centre located in Kamloops.

Residents of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako will be updated as the Regional District progresses toward implementation of the service.
