Senior Planner (Housing)
The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako is seeking a qualified person to fill the position of Senior Planner (Housing). This position involves undertaking a full range of land use planning activities undertaken by the Planning Department, with a focus on developing and supporting housing initiatives and liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders to advance the region’s housing related goals. This includes: working with municipal partners to develop and implement strategies to facilitate the delivery of market and non-market housing projects; providing advice to elected officials and others on housing issues; facilitating the establishment and operation of a regional housing working group; overseeing the work of consultants working on regional housing projects; coordinating the grant application process for housing initiatives; reviewing development bylaws and procedures and assisting in the processing of development applications; and, assisting with the development of housing plans and strategies, and housing needs reports.
The successful candidate will have the ability to think strategically, prioritize multiple demands, and engage with stakeholders to influence and proactively facilitate action. The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree in Planning, or related discipline, and a minimum of 4 years of land use planning experience, preferably in a local government context. However, consideration will be given to candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience who demonstrate the capacity to undertake the responsibilities of the position.
The starting wage for the Senior Planner (Housing) is $39.31 per hour. This position is full-time for a term of up to 3 years.
