The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako is seeking applicants for eight summer positions.
The wage for all positions is $23.34 per hour. Start and end dates vary and are negotiable.

Environmental Services Department:


Environmental Services Summer Student Labourer

Reporting to the Field Operations Supervisor, the employee will assist with environmental services operations, recycling programs, and seasonal maintenance. Duties will include brushing and weed whacking, litter clean-up, painting, and other related work as required.

This is an ideal opportunity for a student enrolled in post-secondary studies with a keen interest in solid waste management and sustainable initiatives and to gain valuable hands-on experience by working within a local government environmental services department.

Reporting to an Operations Supervisor, the employee will assist with environmental services operations, recycling programs, and office projects. Administrative duties will include information compilation, promotion of initiatives, digitizing and archiving historical files, and other related work as required.

Finance Summer Student

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the employee will assist with financial services operation, and daily financial activities. The position will prepare and update the Regional Districts asset management plans and aid in the development of the Regional District Climate Action Plan. Administrative duties will include day-to-day financial matters, assisting with accounts payables, accounts receivable, invoicing, bank deposits, receipts, and petty cash disbursements.

Planning Department:


Planning Summer Student

Reporting to the Director of Planning, the employee will perform a variety of duties in support of the efficient operation of the Planning Department. Duties will include maintaining and updating Planning Department records; conducting research; responding to requests for land use and development related information; assisting in the preparation of reports and other documents; assisting in the processing of development applications; and organizing public meetings.

Planning Summer Student Office

Reporting to the Director of Planning, the employee is responsible for a wide range of activities in support of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako's Planning Department. The position provides clerical duties, records management, research, report preparation, and other project support to the Planning Department as required.  The work is anticipated to focus on the scanning of documents to create digital records to be filed in the RDBN’s digital filing system in accordance with specific filing protocols.

Protective Services Department:


FireSmart Summer Student

Reporting to the Director of Protective Services, the employee will assist with engaging in FireSmart communications with the residents of the RDBN as well as organizing and reporting on FireSmart outreach. Duties will include social media, organizing, planning, and participating in events, and meeting with property owners.

Reporting to the Director of Protective Services, the employee will assist with a wide range of activities in support of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako’s Emergency Preparedness Program, 9-1-1 Services, and Fire Protection. The position provides clerical, records management, research, report preparation, and other support to the Protective Services Team as required.
