What can I bring to the Transfer Station?
The waste disposal facilities in the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako are permitted by the Ministry of Environment to accept residential, commercial and institutional waste. Industrial waste is NOT accepted.
Household Waste – eg. Food waste, packaging, non-recyclable household materials
Old Fridges/Freezers/Ovens/Air Conditioners/Washers/Dryers -- All large appliances accepted and recycled through the Major Appliance Recycling Roundtable (MARR) Program.
Construction and Demolition Waste
Defined as residual, non-recyclable wastes produced from the construction, renovation or demolition of residential and commercial buildings and other structures and usually includes asphalt, concrete, wood, pipe, electrical wire, drywall, shingles, glass and insulation.
- C/D waste in amounts less than two cubic metres (2m3) will be accepted for disposal at Regional District Landfills and Transfer Stations free of charge.
- C/D waste in amounts greater than 2m3 must be taken to the landfill, and will be charged $90 per tonne.
Defined as biodegradable waste less than 4" in diameter. Yard waste includes grass clippings, branches and leaves.
Land clearing waste in amounts less than two cubic metres (2m3) will be accepted for disposal at Regional District Landfills and Transfer Stations free of charge. Land clearing waste in amounts greater than 2m3 must be taken to the landfill, and will be charged $90 per tonne.
Note: Land clearing waste is not accepted at the Area D (Fraser Lake) Transfer Station.
Clean Wood Waste
Defined as wood pieces that do not contain paint, laminate, glue/resin or chemical preservatives.
Limit of one large animal per day except cows/calves. There are specific federal rules and regulations regarding the disposal of cow carcasses/parts. Please contact the Regional District prior to disposal. Carcasses in larger amounts can be taken to the landfill with prior authorization and associated fees may apply. This includes cows/calves which are a Specified Risk Material (SRM).
Auto Hulk (fluids, batteries and tires need to be removed)
Metal Scrap - e.g. Residual building material, old barbeques
