In May 2011 the Regional District Board of Directors directed staff to proceed with the Official Community Plan (OCP) development process for the Southside of Francois Lake.  An OCP is the opportunity for a community to identify its vision for future development and growth of an area.  It includes general goals and policies that guide the Regional District Board, staff, and other in their land use and development decisions.

The Southside OCP (Bylaw No. 1653, 2012) was presented to the Regional District Board for consideration of 3rd reading on May 23rd, 2013.  The Board decided to  not approve the OCP at this time and directed staff to use the plan as an unofficial resource when considering land use issues and applications on the Southside.
