Expression of Interest - RDBN Fuel Mitigation Services

Grant Funding for FireSmart Services on Private Property, July 7, 2021 – June 30, 2022.

The Community Resiliency Investment Program (CRI) has granted the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako (RDBN) $338,225 to provide FireSmart services to RDBN residents over 65 years of age and residents with mobility issues.  The CRI has also granted the RDBN $86,250 to provide FireSmart services to RDBN ranchers and farmers over 65 years of age or with mobility issues. This funding covers labour costs only and NOT the cost of materials.  To be eligible for this funding, residents must first receive a FireSmart Home Assessment from the RDBN that recommends some of the following projects be completed:

  • installation of fire-rated roofing
  • installation of non-combustible gutters
  • roof and gutter cleaning
  • installation of non-combustible screening for vents
  • installation of non-combustible siding
  • repairing of holes in siding
  • installation of tempered glass windows
  • installation of double-paned glass windows
  • repairing of doors/garage doors
  • installation of doors
  • installation of weather stripping
  • renovation of combustible decks using non-combustible materials
  • installation of non-combustible surfaces surrounding the home
  • brushing
  • removal of conifer and diseased deciduous trees
  • removal of ground fuels
  • relocation of woodpiles to 10m away from the home
