Parks and Trails Master Plan for
Area G (Houston/Granisle Rural)
What’s happening?
The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako, with the help of a consultant, has completed a Parks and Trails Master Plan (the Plan) for Electoral Area G (Houston/Granisle Rural). The Plan was received by the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako Board of Directors at its July 9, 2026, Board meeting. It builds on the great work already being done by local outdoor recreation providers and helps us figure out how the Regional District can deliver new and improved parks and trails services over the next 10 years.

Our goal is to make sure we’re providing parks and trails in a way that makes sense for the community, is cost-effective for taxpayers, and works well with existing services. The Plan is intended to be a practical guide for decision-making. It includes a series of recommendations and actions that will help the Regional District prioritize projects, pursue funding opportunities, and work with community partners to enhance parks and trails throughout the service area.

Community members, recreation groups, First Nations, stakeholders, and local governments were invited to share their ideas and priorities through surveys, workshops, meetings, and other engagement opportunities.
