Gate-Check/Scale Attendant
Smithers/Telkwa Transfer Station and Recycling Depot

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako is seeking applicants for a permanent, part-time Gate-Check/Scale Attendant position at the Smithers/Telkwa Transfer Station and Recycling Depot. The shift scheduled for this position is Friday through Sunday. Winter hours from October to April are 10:00 am to 4:30 pm and summer hours from May to September are 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. The starting wage is $24.43 per hour and does not include a benefits package. Internal applicants are subject to a trial period.

Gate-Check/Scale Attendants are responsible for screening all vehicles visiting the site and directing them to the appropriate disposal areas.

This position requires prolonged standing and walking, wearing respirator masks for periods of two hours or more (note: no facial hair or beards), lifting weights up to 40 pounds, continuous bending, maintaining a high level of physical activity to manage vehicle screening, and extended interaction with the public.
